    • "I believe at least five Astor's are now members of the Pilgrim Society. The Pilgrims had recently included David Astor, John Jacob Astor 8th, and William Waldorf Astor 3rd. And during the 1970s, Baron Astor of Hever was the President of the London branch of the Pilgrims. This implies that Astor of Hever was at least the next level up in the chain of command. The higher levels started creating innocent sounding cover organizations to hide their meetings behind. In1901, the Astor's contributed toward the creation of the Pilgrim Society, which was the cover organization for American & British 6° Princes of the Illuminati. I believe at least five Astor's are now members of the Pilgrim Society. The_Astor_family" [22]

Estimated present membership: 12.500 ("The organisation has 12,500 members and 80,000 volunteers ..." [32])

[edit] SMOM Grand Masters

todo: List of Grand Masters of the Knights Hospitaller

"The Sovereign Council of the Order of Malta is the government of the Order. It is composed of the Grand Master, the holders of the four High Offices (Grand Commander, Grand Chancellor, Grand Hospitaller and Receiver of the Common Treasure) and six other members. Apart from the Grand Master, they are elected by the Chapter General, by a majority of the Knights present. The Sovereign Council is called by the Grand Master and meets at the seat of the Order at least six times a year and whenever special circumstances require it." [38]

  • Giacomo Dalla Torre Del Tempio di Sanguinetto
  • Ludwig Hoffmann von Rumerstein
  • Andrew Bertie ("Andrew Willoughby Ninian Bertie") (1929-2008)
    • 78th SMOM "Grand Master"
    • "His full title is His Most Eminent Highness Fra Andrew Willoughby Ninian Bertie, Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta, Most Humble Guardian of the Poor of Jesus Christ. He has never married and has a younger brother. He is distantly related to Queen Elizabeth II. Fra Andrew was born in London, the son of the Hon. James Bertie (son of the 7th Earl of Abingdon) and Lady Jean Crichton-Stuart (the daughter of the Marquess of Bute). He was educated at the premier Catholic British school, Ampleforth College, and graduated in Modern History from Christ Church. He also attended the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London. From 1948 to 1950 he carried out military service in the Scots Guards, becoming a commissioned officer in 1949. After a short experience in the commercial sector, he taught modern languages (particularly French and Spanish) for twenty-three years at Worth Abbey School, a Benedictine Roman Catholic high school in Sussex, England. Fra Andrew was admitted to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) in 1956; he took Perpetual Vows and in 1981 became a Religious member. He has contributed to the government of the Order since 1981 as a member of the Sovereign Council and in April 1988 he was elected the 78th Grand Master. He is Hospitaller of the Sanctuary of Lourdes. He succeeded the late Fra Angelo de Mojana, the distinguished Milanese nobleman who had served the Order as Grand Master since 1962 and accomplished a great deal of modernization to its organization." (wikipedia)
  • Matthew Festing (1949) (79th SMOM Grandmaster, from 2008)
    • "Knights of Malta secretly elect Englishman as new grand master":
      • "ROME (CNS) — In a secret and swift election, the Knights of Malta elected an Englishman as their 79th grand master. Matthew Festing, who had been the Knights’ grand prior of England, was chosen March 11 to replace Andrew W.N. Bertie, who died in February. Festing, 59, will head the world’s oldest chivalric order, founded in the 11th century. He is only the second Englishman to hold the post of grand master; Bertie was the first." ... " Festing, an expert in art and history, joined the Knights in 1977 and in 1991 became a “professed” knight, taking religious vows. He is a descendent of Blessed Adrian Fortescue, a Knight of Malta who was martyred in the 16th century. As head of the English priory, Festing organized humanitarian assistance missions to Lebanon and Kosovo and led a delegation on the order’s annual pilgrimage with the sick to Lourdes." ... "The election of a grand master is a major event in Rome. Fifty electors, representing the 12,500 male and female members of the order, filed into the Knights’ villa on Rome’s Aventine Hill, wearing their distinctive red robes decorated with the Maltese cross. The election, which began with a Mass, had similarities to a papal conclave. The grand master had to be chosen from among the order’s approximately 50 professed Knights."
